Summer band for high school members (9th-12th) starts July 31 at 9:00am and will run until 3:00pm.
Early is on time, on time is late. Don't show up right at 9:00; we START at 9:00. Attendance is mandatory; failure to attend every rehearsal in a timely fashion will result in either removal from our show or removal from the marching band. Excuses are permitted as defined in the band handbook.
You'll want exercise clothes, sunscreen, LOTS of water, and a pair of sneakers with good support. You can't march in Slides. Bring lunch (or lunch money) since I'm not feeding you. You'll have an hour to eat and settle each day.
Hints for success:
DON'T wear dark clothes.
DO wear light-colored, breathable exercise clothes, shorts, tank tops, etc.
DON'T drink soda
DO drink water or gatorade
DON'T wear slides or sandals (you'll be marching barefoot and your feet will burn)
DO wear sneakers, tennis shoes, or marching shoes from last year
DO come with a can-do attitude. Band is great; let's get excited!
Optional items are a hat and/or sunglasses.
EAT BREAKFAST BEFORE YOU ARRIVE. There's a lot of activity happening between 9:00am and the lunch-break so keep your hydration and blood-sugar levels up.
Let's make this a well-attended band camp; spread the word. Tell your friends. Let's see if we can have pre-game AND the Opener set before the first day of school.
